Customer Review: Unless you are a sport journalist, I don’t think you can go wrong with this camera
The 6 Megapixel Nikon D40 is targeted for those who want a relatively compact and light camera yet having most of the important SLR features. The D40 is priced reasonably (cheaper than D50/D80 and Canon Rebel XTi). In my opinion, if you are still considering whether to get a point and shoot camera or a DSLR, the D40 will be a better choice than any point and shoot camera, by far, even those with 8MP or 10MP. But if you are already deciding to get a DSLR or you want more control of the picture taking experience, then I would recommend you to also test the D50 and/or D80 first before deciding to buy the D40. I want you to make sure that you know what you will get (and not get) with the D40. Don’t get me wrong though, the D40 is an awesome camera, and I don’t think you will regret buying one. There are some limitation with the D40 which shouldn’t bother most people, for example, the D40 doesn’t have dedicated button to change picture quality, white balance or ISO settings (which generally only professional/enthusiast will care). Once you understand (and accept) its limitation, the D40 is a potent and exciting photography machine.

Digital Photography Tips - How To Master Your Camera’s Exposure Controls for Better Photos

FISHEYE LENS + MACRO FOR NIKON D40 D40X 18-55MM LENS FYI: This is a super wide angle or mild fisheye. Some companies have different names for them. Difference between a normal wide angle which is .6X or .7X starts at .45X and lower. The lower the X factor, the wider the image will be distorted as fisheye effect and the more expensive the lens gets. This auction is for a 0.42X super wide lens that will give you a great fisheye effect when used in zoom out settings on your cam without sacrificing your budget. Use the fisheye effect for sports, artistic and radical pictures. This lens has two halves that work together as a fisheye. To use the macro portion alone, you have to unscrew it from the lens. Remember the AF will not work when using it for macro photography, in that case you will need to use manual focus by adjusting the distance from the camcorder/camera to the object.
Customer Review: Fisheye
Fits great on my D40, the lens cap isn’t that great but who cares. I leave the adapter on my lens all the time because it acts like a lens hood.
Customer Review: good price for fun photos
decent pictures for the price. lens feels a little heavy for the kit 18-55mm lens, but it auto focuses fine.
my better captures were at focal lengths between 28mm and 23mm. anything lower causes good fisheye/dostorted effects, but with that black barrel showing more as you zoom out. also blurs more around the edges at lower focal lengths.
good macro lens. can’t really use with your pop up flash because the lens sticks out too far and causes shadows in low lit areas.
lens caps are cheap and don’t stay on too well outside of it’s rough carrying case.
shipped pretty fast and cost me less than $40 after everything.
oh and it also came with a lens cleaning kit..

Digital Photography Tips - Using Your Camera’s Built-in Exposure Controls

SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass provides excellent correction of chromatic aberration. The super multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range.
Customer Review: Good lens for casual photographer…
This lens is decent for beginners and and casual photographers. It is a bit slow and loud when using auto focus but suits my needs. This is a very large lens and you can really feel the weight it adds to the camera…which I like because it feels solid. I use this with my Canon Digital Rebel XT 8mp. With only a small amount of shuffling, it fit attached to the camera body, into my sling pro 200 for easy access. Can’t wait to take it to the Indy 500 this year!
Customer Review: Great value
I have just gotten my rebel xt and this is my second lens. I really do think that image stabilization is all marketing. Maybe it works fine for some things but for the most part if you are going to be shooting this far away under and conditions that require a slow shutter speed you are going to want a tripod. I mention this because the more expensive versions of this lens offer this but not worth the $$$. Plus I don’t want to worry about my lens or my camera. If I spend too much on either then I will tend to protect rather than use it. The refurb Canon along with this lens look impressive (versus point and shoot) and I do take great care of both but I could buy a couple of each of these before touching the regular price. If your reading this keep in mind I am just starting out with digital slr’s but if you are getting this lens you are probably on a budget but still want a decent lens. You won’t be able to use this in a low light but that is not what it is intended for anyway. This is well worth the price, fun to use the macro feature, just fun all around.

Choosing a Digital Camera For Perfect Clarity and Color

51YCGE73R5L. SL160 Choosing a Digital Camera For Perfect Clarity and Color Nikon Coolpix 8800 8MP Digital Camera with 10x Vibration Reduction Optical Zoom Lens Nikon Coolpix 8800 is designed for the serious photographer who aspires to take the highest quality images. This is possible with the ultra high-definition 8.0 effective megapixels. The 10x optical zoom, 35-350mm focal range (35mm equivalent), targets those who also require high zoom power. Due to its large zoom range, Vibration Reduction (VR) is needed to compensate inevitable camera movements. VR automatically detects and compensates for these small camera movements that causes image blur. Thanks to the VR, you can achieve sharp and clear images when shooting in low light (shutter speeds up to 3 stops slower) or when taking handheld telephoto and macro shots. VR even works with the telephoto converter lens at 600mm (35mm equivalent). This extremely versatile camera offers a range of lens converters (Tele, Wideangle and fisheye), optical filters, speedlights, software and other accessories for even more creative flexibility. With this camera you create the photographic rules.
Customer Review: Coolpix 880 problems
I have sent this camera in to Nikon three times in as many years. Takes six weeks or more for repair and has cost from $50 - $110. Now I get a system “error 2″ message and they tell me to send it in and they THINK they can fix it, but are not sure. You pay shipping both ways. I am told by other people with the same problem they have sent theirs in and shortly after it started again. Will NEVER buy another Nikon.
Customer Review: Great camera!
I love this camera! It takes amazing clear pictures and is great for begining photographers! It’s so complex, if you want to take even better pictures and use all the options that this camera comes equiped with you’ll need to have the manual. For a point-and-shoot camera, leave it on auto, or for a pro you can also have it on full manual mode. If you’re in between there’s modes for that. The flash is great, but if you want to take long range pictures in the dark, upgrade to the amazing Nikon 800 speedlight. Over all, this is a high quality camera for everybody, from pros, to the first camera, and in-between!

Choosing The Right Digital Camera - SLR or Rangefinder

Customer Review: Well made
Just what I needed for a filter and a shade. Works very well.
Customer Review: Be careful of vignetting
The problem is that the Nikon 5400 has such a wide angle lens that vignetting is inevitable with this accessory. With only one filter screwed on there is just a little darkening in the corners; nothing really too bad. But with two filters screwed on the corners are completely black and rounded. Although it’s a well built metal tube, it would’ve been nice if it came with a lans cap and a cap for the other end to keep dust out and protect your filters while you’re not using them.

Customer Review: Outstanding bokeh, strong colors
My family just spent two weeks with this lens photographing wildlife, hand-holding it all day. It does get heavy after a few hours, but except for a sore shoulder or two we have nothing to complain about. My daughter, 15, held it better than her parents, so we gave her the bird work. For me, the value of the lens lies in the quality of the blur it creates. Much like the similar Nikon 600mm, it will frame your subjects in an abstract setting that is as smooth as a watercolor painting. Also, no other lens I’ve used takes advantage of that “C” autofocus setting so well. For example, we were able to shoot grazing antelope from the back of bouncy, moving truck and get the fur in focus in every shot.
Customer Review: Awesome Lens
An amazing lens by any standard. Sharp as a tack, Ultra quick AF, beautiful Bokeh wide open. Fabulous and expensive. Oh and don’t buy it off Amazon, get it from B&H.

Customer Review: Inexpensive and wonderful
What can I say, but wow. This is everything I expected and then some. After massive research for a wide angle lens for the budget conscience I finally set my eyes on the Sigma and am truly overwhelmed and not the least bit disappointed in my purchase. The make of the glass is heavy duty which is great for me, but those of you looking for a lightweight lens pleas move on. f stop of 2.8 works wonders in low light settings as well as nights photography. If you are in the market for a new piece of wide angle glass this is the one to get. I have tried it on a Nikon d60, d80, and d300 with great results on each. Kudos to Sigma for a great lens at a great price. B
Customer Review: The Price and wide aperature is a steal
I wanted a lens with a large aperature and wide angle to take close ups and landscapes without much distortions. This lens met the cost and the aperature I needed. I have the Nikon D40 and D40X and the lens works great on both. Have taken superb photos that give me the feel of professional shooting withiout the cost. Goes well with my Nikon 18-55 f3.5 and Nikon 18-135 f3.5 lens and Nikon 70-300 F4.5 when I go out to shoot landscapes in all kinds of scenes. With the internal focus, I have not had any problems when shooting in auto focus mode. Recommend for users of the D40, D40X & D80 bodies.
